Ashleigh Greene, Student Success Story, Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro

Ashleigh Greene came from a working-class family, one where she didn’t face any tremendous set-backs, but managed to benefit from CIS services!

As a young child, what Ashleigh needed the most was a mentor. Although Ashleigh had several role models in her life from church, her community, and many female role models, having a CIS mentor gave her a new perspective. Between the enrichment activities and the personal relationship she shared with her mentor, Ashleigh bloomed into a young professional. In a recent interview with Ashleigh, Ashleigh told us that she is forever grateful for CIS of Greater Greensboro for helping her with her personal and professional development!

Ashleigh was recruited by former CIS Site Coordinator Kim Waller. At that time, Waller was Greene's cheerleading coach at Lincoln Middle School. Kim saw untapped potential in Ashleigh so she recruited her to join Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro. Being a CIS participant, Ashleigh received a mentor for her time at Lincoln Middle School. Ashleigh’s mentor helped her to be more comfortable with who she was AND this was life-changing! This one-on-one relationship helped Ashleigh feel more at ease at school and let her know she had a safe place to learn and grow. Most importantly, she received help with important decision-making and was inspired to be even more productive! Ashleigh attended the academy at Dudley and graduated in 2002. She then went on to graduate from Wake Forest University in 2006 and Washington and Lee School of Law in 2012.

Currently, Ashley is an Attorney for Nexxus, a law firm located in Greensboro, NC, where she focuses primarily on corporate mergers and acquisitions. She is a part of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. In her spare time, she invests in real estate! Currently, she provides affordable housing to families who are in need.
